Bangladesh Tourism Board is organizing a three-day Harmony Festival from January 10-12 for the first time in Srimangal Upazila of Moulvibazar.

The program is being held daily from 11 am to 8 pm at Kakiachhara Government Primary School ground near Bangladesh Tea Research Institute in the upazila.

Extensive preparations have been made to make the festival a success. The gate in Srimangal town is decorated with pylons, festoons, banners and flags in red and green.
Tourists from home and abroad attended the event

Local tour operators are seen offering various affordable travel packages for tourists.

Local ethnic groups are Khasi, Garo, Manipuri, Tripura, Sabar, Kharia, Rikiasan, Baraik, Kanda, Rajbalwab, Bhuiyan, Santal, Orao, Gorite, Munda, Kurmi, Bhumij, Bunarji, Lohar, Ganju, Kara and Teli communities.

Through this, they have highlighted their unique traditions

Performances and exhibitions during the event.
“Traditional Dhamail dances of Sylhet, as well as Manipuri, Sabar, Kharia are performed.

Rikyasan, Baraik, Kanda, Santal, Orao, Munda and Kurmi, communities are the highlight of the event. different

Communities are also showcasing their costumes and unique traditions, such as archery and bamboo pole climbing competitions, as well as betel and bamboo crafts by the Khasi community.  Handloom weaving by the Tripura and Manipuri communities, among others, has been exhibited in a very attractive manner.

On Friday afternoon, the chief secretary of the chief adviser’s office, M Siraj Uddin Mia, inaugurated the festival. The Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board, Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber presided Over  the Program , gave a welcome speech at the event Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar  Israel Hossain and
Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Secretary Nasreen Jahan was present as guest of honor in the event, were present as special guests.Sylhet Divisional Commissioner
Khan Md Reza-ur-Nabi, Moulvibazar Additional Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Roy and Srimangal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Islam Uddin, Managing Director of SME Foundation Anwar Hossain Chowdhury and others.

Meanwhile, the program celebration committee says that the program should become a meeting of cultures.

Meanwhile, the overall cooperation of the people of Sreemangal along with the police administration forces to complete the security and event in this festival is commendable.
